James Taylor

Marketing, 2005

I loved Humber since my first day on campus - it was big, and well-equipped. It seemed tailor-made for study and felt so much more advanced than high school.

My professors were not just teachers; they were also business professionals. They taught me the program, but also shared relevance through their personal endeavours while sharing networking and collaboration techniques – even those as minute as the etiquette of a business meeting, and how to “hand-shake”.

Humber truly trained me for the future and helped set me up for success. I liked it so much I came back!

After completing my Business Marketing diploma, I went onto University to get a B. Comm degree with a double concentration in Finance and Management Science, while minoring in Information Technology. During my last semester working on the final project for the capstone course of business, I had some entrepreneurial ideas.

Upon my return from University, I contacted Humber to inquire about their new Entrepreneurship program. They helped me turn my ideas, ambitions and dreams into reality. In late 2015, I launched my business, an e-Commerce and social media website for collectibles, The Collectors Inc. Even though we’re new to the game, it’s already very promising.

Without Humber, my business would not be where it is today. I attained great contacts and an invaluable mentor, but most important was the lesson that you really can do anything you put your mind to. Don’t give up. Do your best. Give it your all. Follow your dreams. Study hard, work hard and have fun. It all pays off in the future.
