Interior Design - Bachelor of Applied Arts
Humber's Interior Design program encompasses many areas of interior design including commercial, residential, healthcare and hospitality design. Students are exposed to the latest design strategies and innovative materials. Course content covers problem analysis, concept development, design communication and presentation, specifications and detailing and professional practices. Observational field trips enable students to observe and reflect on such theoretical contexts as the perception of space and human interaction with built environments. In the fourth year thesis courses, students partner with industry mentors as they select, research, develop, and document a large-scale project from research and initial concept to three dimensional modeling and construction documentation. In the year 2000, Humber was the first college program to receive professional accreditation by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER). We currently hold Professional Accreditation. Our program is also recognized by the Association for Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO).
