Hospital Practices and Pharmaceutics

This course will introduce the student to the health care system in Canada and Ontario. The organization of hospitals, the functions and services of the hospital pharmacy, the role of the hospital pharmacy technician, the Director of Pharmacy, pharmacists and other health professionals will be discussed. Hospital drug distribution systems, pharmacy services including purchasing, inventory control, will be emphasized. Students will gain knowledge in pharmaceutics as it applies to the compounding of products in institutional settings.
