Past Guidance Lunch

Spring Guidance Lunch 2016

The dean of the School of Media Studies and Information Technology, Guillermo Acosta, gave a compelling overview of the school's guiding philosophy, "We are Storytellers." The media landscape is always evolving, thus the training Humber students receive is structured to align with this dynamic industry. From award-winning student films, to innovative labs like the LiveLab, the passion and deep understanding Guillermo and his team have for the media sector vibrated throughout the room.

The presentation portion closed with an Admissions overview by Jennifer Smith, Manager of Admissions, followed by recruitment advisor, Risha Toney identifying key trends in college and postsecondary students. Finally, our guests had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the media labs that help make Humber's School of Media Studies one of the best in the country.

  • Media Studies Live Labs

Learning in a Live Lab at Humber is a real life exploration of a chosen career. Using industry equipment and working to industry expectations, students are encouraged to push the boundaries, explore the possibilities, and be inventive while honing ideas and techniques. The School of Media Studies and Information Technology has an array of hardworking labs that do not emulate real life, they are real life!
