Mark Sparling’s musical training began with piano lessons when he was six. By the time he was 12 he was experimenting with rock guitar and subsequently started taking classical guitar lessons at age 13. Mark first took interest in jazz after hearing John Scofield. In 2008 he auditioned at Humber College where he was accepted into the Introduction to Commercial Jazz program and is now currently enrolled in Humber's Bachelor of Applied Music program. Mark has studied privately with Lorne Lofsky, David Occhipinti, Geoff Young, Trevor Giancola, and Emile d'Eon. In 2010 Mark was awarded one of the Humber Music Degree scholarships for outstanding achievement.
