The ability to solve problems is at the core of almost every job and occupation. Yet, we often hear that students and recent graduates lack the skills they need to solve problems.
Problem-based learning methodologies are a type of inquiry-based learning that integrates "content" learning with problem-solving skills learning.
Problem-based learning offers rich opportunities for collaboration in the design of problems for learning. Problem-based learning also strongly supports a flipped classroom environment.
This workshop will explore the pedagogical underpinnings of problem-based learning, and provide a concrete demonstration of the integration of problem-based learning in the first week of class.
