Implicit biases are simply the brain's shortcut for coping with and categorizing all the information it receives every day. This tendency to classify a group or type of person may not be intentional, but we can still do something to diminish its effects. This workshop will be an opportunity for participants to engage in further understanding, identifying and interrupting implicit or unconscious biases with reference to the four stages of the hiring process.
- Participants will understand how to recognize implicit bias within themselves and in others.
- Participants will be able to identify implicit biases in hiring practices.
- Participants will learn strategies for interrupting implicit bias.
