There is nothing like Latin dancing! It engages so many systems in our body. It requires hand/eye coordination, balance, listening to music, interacting with a partner — which is one of the most effective ways to engage your brain because you have to learn how to listen to the music and transfer the music to body movement — it's all much more challenging than standard exercise. The first dance that we will learn is Merengue, which is a fusion of European and African cultures, and has become the most popular form of dance in the Dominican Republic, followed by Salsa, which can be traced to a mix of indigenous, African and Spanish influences.
- Understand how Salsa dancing can be a great way to exercise.
- Learn to dance the Merengue and Salsa at the beginner level, so participants can start dancing with any partner outside of the workshop.
