Humber Centre for Entrepreneurship – Emergence Symposium

Emergence Symposium will convene more than 150 community engaged arts practitioners, policy makers and community leaders for reciprocal knowledge exchange, leadership development, creative self-reflection, mentorship and cross sectoral collaborations and critical discussions surrounding the theme of Arts and Equity. This large-scale symposium will build on the equity dialogue which Neighbourhood Arts Network has explored since its foundation in 2010.

Emergence is made possible thanks to the support of TD Bank Group and Humber's Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Emergence Symposium on November 21 will include:

  • Unique panels & round tables moderated by local and national artists, presenters and creative facilitators
  • Intensive creative leadership workshops
  • Creative commons & reflective spaces
  • Thematic working groups to build community action & collaboration
  • ASL interpreters & accessible meeting spaces
  • Symposium bursaries for emerging arts leaders

To ensure experiential learning opportunities for our student, the Humber cfe has engaged Humber Creative Collective, which is a group of social entrepreneurs, gathering with a shared focus on creating and improving their visual art and delving into creative professional practices.

We have come up with the project concept “Illuminations” where student applicants will be submitting gallery-ready pieces which will follow the theme of bright visions of inspiration and light. Students will showcase their art pieces at the Humber Centre for Entrepreneurship and the winning pieces will be presented at the Emergence Conference. The winning pieces will have a year-long gallery showing at CFE, and a gift certificate prize for Articulations.

If you are interested about Illuminations or the Emergence Symposium, please email cfe@humber.ca.
