Students Success: Accommodation Matters

Presenter: Catherine L. Peters, Partner, Hicks Morley 

BIOGRAPHY:

Catherine Peters is a partner in the firm and the Chair of the Hicks Morley Human Rights Practice Group. She is also the Chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. Catherine provides strategic advice to clients on a wide variety of human rights, employment law, labour relations, and administrative law matters, and represents clients before arbitration boards, human rights tribunals, and a variety of administrative tribunals. A significant component of Catherine’s practice focuses on the post-secondary education sector.

OBJECTIVES:

This workshop is geared to answer the following questions:

  1. My role in providing accommodations to students?
  2. How can I enhance my accommodation practices?
  3. How can I be an ally to students requiring accommodations?
  4. Does providing accommodations lower academic standard?
