Frequently Asked Questions

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED FOR AN AWARD?

Current students in good academic standing, faculty, support staff and administrators are eligible nominees and nominators. 

  • Students can be nominated by fellow students, faculty, support staff and administrators for the Student Appreciation Awards, the Judy Harvey Student Spirit Award or the Volunteer of the Year Award.
  • Faculty, support staff and administrators can only be nominated by students as candidates for the Student Appreciation Awards.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS THAT I CAN SUBMIT?

Each person can submit a maximum of six nominations. Each nomination must indicate in detail why the nominee is a deserving candidate for an award.    

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF TIMES THAT A NOMINEE CAN RECEIVE AN AWARD?

The same individuals, groups and clubs can be nominated for awards each year but are only eligible to receive the same award every three years.  

HOW ARE RECIPIENTS SELECTED?

Recipients are selected by a committee consisting of past recipients and representatives from the IGNITE, Student Success & Engagement and Guelph-Humber.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY NOMINEE IS RECEIVING AN AWARD? 

All nominees will be contacted via email during the week of March 25, 2019 with the results.

WHEN ARE THE AWARD RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED?

The recipients are announced and presented with their awards at the Student Appreciation Awards Reception on April 8, 2019 in the G Cottage at the Lakeshore Campus.

WHAT DO AWARD RECIPIENTS RECEIVE?

Recipients receive public recognition of their contributions at the Student Appreciation Awards Reception along with a certificate of appreciation and miniature sculpture or plaque.
