Toronto, Ontario – Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) with a mix of science and sports, highlighted by a visit from the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science, Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities and Member of Parliament for Etobicoke North.
Minister Duncan will visit Humber’s Prototyping Lab, where she will meet with female faculty and students from the School of Applied Technology. Students will present their projects and mechatronics equipment.
Afterwards, Minister Duncan will speak at Humber’s annual IWD luncheon, which recognizes female leaders across the college and the contributions of women in the education sector.
The Minister’s visit will end with time with Humber’s Varsity women’s basketball players. The team recently won their fourth consecutive Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championship, winning 81 straight OCAA games in the process. Captain Ceejay Nofuente will greet the Minister. Nofuente is the college’s all-time leading scorer and was named as the OCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year for the third consecutive season.
