Toronto, Ontario – Humber College is capping off its year-long 50th anniversary celebration with special events across the city on Wednesday, January 17, including a concert featuring some of North America’s finest musicians.
 
On Wednesday, January 17 in honour of Humber’s 50th anniversary both the Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square and the CN Tower will be lit up in Humber’s gold and blue colours. The Toronto sign will be lit from 9 a.m. that morning until 9 a.m. on Thursday. Throughout the day, Humber students, staff and alumni will be at the sign for photos, along with a special appearance of Humber’s Hawk mascot from 12 to 2 p.m. The CN Tower will be lit from sunset.
 
In the evening, the Humber at 50 – A Celebration Through Music concert will include performances from Humber’s faculty big band, directed by Denny Christianson and featuring Pat LaBarbera, Al Kay and special guest Kurt Elling. Rik Emmett, Laila Biali and Rich Brown’s band, rinsethealgorithm, will also perform. The evening will conclude with a post-concert reception where guests will get the chance to meet the musicians. Proceeds from the concert will support the Humber 50th Anniversary Scholarship Fund.
