TORONTO, ONT, June 11, 2018 - Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning is celebrating new graduates’ achievements at its spring 2018 Convocation. This is Humber’s 50th convocation. The first ever was on May 25, 1968.
Along with the graduating students, Humber will recognize seven outstanding professionals with honorary degrees. This year’s recipients are Adrienne Arsenault (Senior Correspondent for CBC’s The National), Brent Choi (President and Chief Creative Officer, J. Walter Thompson), Robert Lengyel (Electronics Engineer), Andy MacDonald (Director of Fire Management Studies), Lorna Montgomery (Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, awarded posthumously), Don Montgomery (Eco-tourism expert), and Mark Henry Rowswell ‘Dashan’ (Comedian).
“Convocation is a great opportunity to celebrate the success of our graduates, as well as the commitment of the faculty and staff who help us to provide a leading polytechnic education to the leaders of tomorrow,” said Chris Whitaker, Humber president and CEO. “We are also proud to award honorary degrees to seven of today’s outstanding leaders for their contributions to Humber and the community.”
Approximately 10,000 full-time, part-time and continuing education students from Humber’s eight academic schools will graduate this spring. Convocation ceremonies will take place from Tuesday, June 12 to Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Toronto Congress Centre (650 Dixon Road, Toronto).
