Toronto, Ontario – October 5, 2017 – In an effort to promote more sustainable forms of transportation, Humber students and staff will have the chance to test-drive one of three electric vehicles (EVs) on October 5, 2017 from 12 until 3 p.m.

Plug ‘N Drive, an environmental non-profit that promotes electric vehicles, will be bringing a BMW i3, a Volkswagen e-Golf and a Chevrolet Bolt to the college’s North Campus. This event follows a similar – and highly popular – test drive day at the Lakeshore Campus in March.

Currently, Humber has two EV charging stations at the Lakeshore Campus, with six to be added at the North Campus with the opening of a new parking garage in 2018.

“Sustainability is one of Humber’s six values, and we continuously strive to include sustainability in all our decision making and planning,” says Roma Malik, acting sustainability manager. “In our 2014-2019 Sustainability Plan, sustainable transportation is a key focus. We see electric vehicles as a more sustainable option to a gasoline-powered vehicle – and it also helps that they’re stylish!”
