Toronto, Ontario – November 28, 2017 – Andrew Bowerbank, a graduate of Humber College’s Industrial Design program has won the 2017 Premier’s Award in the Technology category.

Premier’s Awards celebrate the achievements of Ontario college graduates in the province and throughout the world. Humber graduates were nominated in six categories: Business, Community Services, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, Recent Graduate, and Technology.

Bowerbank, a 1989 School of Applied Technology graduate, is currently Global Director of Sustainable Building Services at EllisDon Corporation. As a well-known figure in Canada’s energy and building infrastructure sectors, Bowerbank has established a reputation as a leading authority on emerging clean technologies, high performance building design and low-carbon economics.

Prior to working at EllisDon, Bowerbank was the CEO and Executive Director of the World Green Building Council. In this role, he had a seat at the United Nations for four years, and had the opportunity to work with international leaders including Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

This marks the tenth time a Humber grad has won this prestigious award. Recipients also receive a $5,000 bursary in their name to support current students at the college.

“We are proud of our alumni and the contributions they make to their sectors, locally and internationally. Andrew Bowerbank is a perfect example of someone who gained critical career-oriented skills at Humber that he continues to apply in his role at EllisDon,” said Chris Whitaker, president, Humber College. “The entire college community congratulates Andrew on his selection as a Premier’s Award recipient.”
