Toronto, Ontario – Humber will host a 2020 FIRST Robotics District Competition in partnership with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Canada from March 6 to 8, 2020, at the college's North Campus.
The event combines the excitement of sport with the rigours of science and technology. High school students will showcase their design and engineering skills and compete in Canada's largest high school robotics competition. The competition takes place at Humber’s North Campus, a unique setting that is home to an award-winning Mechatronics skills varsity team and where students learn alongside representatives from leading companies in robotics, 3D printing, and collaborative digital technologies.
Under strict time limitations, students will build a 120-pound robot that will be challenged to complete tasks on a playing field. The program and test their machines through engineering, coding, and design. In addition to the science sphere, students will have to compete in the business realm. They will develop business and marketing plans, fundraisers, and community engagement plans. This year's robotics theme focuses on the power of the future with renewable sources of energy, INFINITE RECHARGE.

Highest ranking teams from district events will move onto the FIRST Ontario Provincials in Mississauga on April 8 to 11. From there, more than 25 winning teams will move on to FIRST Championships in Detroit, Michigan, at the end of April 2020.
