If you need someone to talk to, want help getting an essay started or could use a little extra help with your classes, at Humber we have many supports and services to assist you. Keep reading to learn what they are and how to access them.

Counselling

Professionals in the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) can provide rapid mental health assessments and counselling services to help you work through and resolve any challenges you face as you return to class or that are impacting your studies. Access counselling support services by visiting SWAC at both North and Lakeshore.

  • SWAC services are available Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Academic Accommodation

Students seeking academic accommodation supports can meet with a staff member in the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) at North and Lakeshore campus. To make an appointment, call 416-675-5090.

Stress management workshops

Learn to identify different types of stress and the tools and practices to help you cope with, and manage stress. Peer Assisted Learning Support also offers workshops on time management, exam and test prep and many other topics. These workshops are free for you to attend. You can register here.

Advising and Career Services

Career and Student Success Advisors can help if you feel like your academic or career plans have changed and you need someone to talk to about your options. They can assist you to better understand your choices and identify career and program pathways to help you meet your academic and career goals.

Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring for all Humber and Guelph-Humber students is FREE. When you sign up for peer tutoring you are paired with another student who has 80 per cent or higher in the course you’re taking. Tutoring happens on campus for a maximum of three hours per week.

Writing Centre

If you need help starting, developing, structuring or formatting your writing assignments, the Writing Centre can help. Feel free to drop in on the third floor of the LRC at North Campus, or F201 at the Lakeshore Campus.

Math Centre

The Math Centre can help with all levels of math courses, and even courses with embedded math such as nursing. You don’t need to make an appointment, just drop in on the third floor of the LRC at North Campus, or F201 at the Lakeshore Campus.

Accounting Centre

The Accounting Centre is a resource available to all students enrolled in accounting courses for Diploma, Degree, Certificate and Part-time programs. Get help with textbook concepts, homework questions and an overall understanding of course material from first to sixth semester. Drop-in, Phone and Online. Room H100B at Lakeshore Campus and Room E221 at North Campus.

Open Learning Centre

The Open Learning Centre (OLC) helps support students studying online, as well as all Humber students when it comes to Blackboard assistance and other digital learning technologies (Lynda.com, Virtual Proctoring). Open seven days a week (North Campus - D225), you can connect with an OLC Student Support Advisor via phone, email, live chat or in person.

Pulled an all-nighter and now you’re desperately in need of a nap? Our North and Lakeshore campuses have sleep lounges. No appointment needed, just bring your student card.
