Don’t just imagine where you’ll be studying at Humber, come experience it for yourself. Humber’s fall Open House is on Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North and Lakeshore campuses.
Visiting the campus is one of the best ways to decide where to complete your postsecondary education. Staff and faculty will provide detailed information about your program, insights about the industry and where your education could take you. With program sessions and lab tours, you can explore Humber’s teaching environment and approach to hands-on learning.
Humber student ambassadors, faculty and event attendees share the top five reasons to attend Open House:
1. Explore student success stories
Learn about your program directly from current students. At Open House, students from a variety of programs share their success stories, experiences in the program and tell you how Humber helped them move forward in their chosen fields.
“One of the great perks of Open House is getting to talk to students who are already in the program. I found this valuable because these are student volunteers who tell you about the program through their experiences,” says Alexia Bowen, Bachelor of Commerce - Hospitality and Tourism Management student.
2. Learn more about the faculty
Humber’s faculty are industry professionals offer specialized training and innovative approaches to learning. Take your skills to the next level with faculty who will guide you through work placements and industry research projects.
“I learned how dedicated the faculty are about success for current and future students. I learned Humber specifically has many services that will help students on their journey to success,” says Christopher Collington, Film and TV Production student.
3. You could win $5,000 towards your tuition
Enter to win a $5,000 credit towards your fall 2020 and winter 2021 tuition. The prize will be awarded to a student enrolled in a full-time program at Humber. Students must complete the online entry form by visiting a Humber College Recruitment Officer/ representative at any Humber College recruitment event or submitting an application online. The contest closes on Friday, July 24, 2020.
Katrina Subiaga won the 2019 $5,000 free tuition contest at Humber. Subiaga said she was interested in Humber's Nursing program because of the yearly co-op placement offered. "Humber really stood out. Every year you're in a placement where you get a lot of hours and experience. That's something the other programs didn't offer," she said.

4. Discover the campus
Learn how to navigate the campus before your first day of class. Familiarize yourself with classroom locations and learning labs that relate to your program. From counselling services to varsity sports, Humber will show you where to access services to help you be at your best in and out of the classroom.
“It’s important to attend Open House because you get an insight into the course content structure, professors and get to know the campus instead of just showing up the first day and feeling overwhelmed. Open House answered the questions that I didn’t even know I had,” says Shay Hamilton, Paralegal Education student.
5. Meet people with the same interests
Meet future students and industry professionals who share the same interests as you. Open House is the first of many events where you will meet friends in your desired program and connect with professionals on future projects and initiatives across the college.
“I hope students get a sense of the culture here at Humber College and that they get a sense of the important people at Humber College put on their education journey as partners. Having program coordinators, associate deans, faculty and support staff welcome students and thank them for showing interest in our programs really demonstrates our involvement and commitment to them on their journey and I hope students get that sense of cultural pride that we have here at Humber,” says Jason Powell, senior dean, Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness.
