In May 2019, the first Viewpoint event entitled, “Technology & Hospitality Management: Distraction to Disruption,” was held at North Campus. Humber’s Faculty of Business created the learning services Viewpoint to foster dialogue about hospitality industry trends and innovation.
“Viewpoint provides a forum for our industry partners and professionals to get together, to network but also learn about how technology is influencing the industry today,” says Kristy Adams, program coordinator, Hotel & Restaurant Operations Management. “What we are doing at Humber is getting the leaders of tomorrow ready for the hospitality industry.”
Gopal Rao, professor in the program, says, “Humber prepares students for the future, just by making sure that we incorporate all of what’s happening today in the industry, with what we teach them.”
David Goldstein, President & CEO of Destination Canada, was the keynote speaker at the event and says, “it is important to have events like this, to share ideas and gain perspectives. It’s great to have an organization like Humber do this instead of the normal industry associations. Because it brings a real sense of what the future of the industry means and how we should all be participating.”
