What is an Official and Unofficial Transcript?

Official Transcript

An official transcript is a document that represents a student’s complete academic record, including all courses attempted, repeated and completed. Course and Grade Point Averages (GPA) are included on official transcripts.

An official transcript can be mailed or shared electronically. Mailed transcripts are printed on secure transcript paper, signed by the Registrar, sealed in an envelope and are received directly from Humber College.

Official transcripts can also be shared electronically through the MyCreds portal by request. Electronic transcripts are certified by the College and use digital signatures to verify the authenticity of the transcript. Once uploaded to the MyCreds portal, you can share transcripts digitally to a third-party such as another college or university, government agency or employer.

Unofficial Transcript

An unofficial transcript reflects your academic record at the point that you request it. It cannot be used as an official transcript as it does not bear the Registrar's signature, seal and is not printed on security paper. Transcripts that are handled by a student are not considered official as they are subject to tampering. Unofficial transcripts can be accessed free of charge through MyHumber should you want to review or share your grades.

When will I require an Official Transcript?

Official transcripts are required when applying to other post-secondary institutions or when providing documents to the Government of Canada or other organizations that require an official academic record signed by the Registrar.

Scenarios for Requesting a Transcript

Students applying to another Ontario college who require transcripts to be sent to that institution must request the transcript using the OCAS online transcript request form. Students who did not apply online or have questions must call the OCAS Customer Contact Centre to fulfill the request.

Students applying to an Ontario university through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) who require transcripts to be sent to that institution may be able to order transcripts as part of the online or paper OUAC application. Students should contact the university in question directly to determine if they should apply through OUAC or directly to the university.

If the program is NOT handled by OUAC, please request the transcripts directly through MyHumber > Student > Student Records > Request an Official Humber Transcript to have them sent directly to the institution.

Students requesting transcripts to be sent directly to a third-party (e.g. employment agency) can be done by requesting an electronic transcript.

Go to MyHumber > Student > Student Records > Request an Official Humber Transcript > DIGI > MyCreds XML Transcript to have your Humber transcript uploaded to MyCreds. A $6 fee will be charged by MyCreds each time a transcript is shared through the MyCreds portal.
