Frequently Asked Questions

Career Advancement Service (CAS) offers a unique approach to career decision-making and goal setting. The client is supported by a coach, who guides you through some self assessment tools and helps you decide your new direction. Educational planning is also available to help you reach that goal.

The coach will set you up with some self-assessment tools, perhaps some further meetings, or an action plan. The coach will continue to stay connected with you until you have set your goals and executed your plan. Our coaches are trained in job search, self-assessment, educational planning and portfolio development.

The coach will refer you to a counsellor if the need is identified. The counsellor is trained in advanced assessment instruments, in-depth counselling and prior learning assessment options.

STEP ONE: If you don't know where to start, check out our career resources and learn how to construct a tailored resume that is best suited to your unique career history.

STEP TWO: If you have created a cover letter and resume and are ready for feedback book an appointment with a Career Coach.

If you are a current student, recent graduate or alumni, you are eligible to book an appointment with our Career Coaches through our Career Advancement Services. We also encourage you to follow us on social media to receive updates on events and job search tips.

We usually suggest a maximum of 5 appointments, however sometimes you and the Career Coach will decide more appointments are required.  We encourage scheduling appointments with the same coach, so the information and support provided is consistent and they can help you progress with your career development and job search. Please note that all coaches are trained to provide the same support to Student/Alumni.

CAS' mandate is to provide career coaching and educational planning assistance to individuals. We will provide you with information and guidance on how to conduct your job search. Career Coaches will also direct you to various employment resources.
