This course explores both the primary elements of design, including form, scale, colour, texture, pattern and light, as well as ordering principles of design, including axis, symmetry, hierarchy, datum, rhythm, repetition and transformation. Students demonstrate their understanding of these industry-standard elements and principles of design through a sketching, in-class design charettes and exercises, in-situ research and a case study project.
