This course builds on the fundamentals covered in the PLC Applications 1 course by introducing advanced programming on various PLC platforms. Discrete topics involve sequential design and programming, I/O interfacing with devices such as VFDs and servo drives. Analog topics include wiring, scaling and signal conditioning on a variety of process transducers e.g. temperature, pressure, weight, etc. The initial part of the course reinforces Ladder Diagram (LD) programming concepts carrying over from the introductory course. The IEC 61131-3 languages Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Structured Text (ST) and Function Block Diagram (FBD) are also covered.
