Course Code: BDES 3003
Academic Year: 2025-2026
The practice of Information Architecture (IA) borrows from the fields of information and library science to bring principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape. It commonly refers to the organization and labeling of information, as well as the design of search and navigation systems within websites and intranets. In this course, students critically deconstruct the information architecture of multiple digital products, exposing the content structure, the ways in which they catalog information, how information is presented back to the user, and how the user is supported while making navigation decisions. Students apply theory and primary research methods (such as card sorting) to practical IA and navigation problems, developing their own emerging practices of site mapping and navigation design.
