Business Fundamentals for Design Professionals

This course focuses on understanding business objectives and operations, and the unique positioning of design within organizational culture. Students will explore how different types of corporate, not-for-profit and governmental organizations operate, and how their mandates and goals as an organization impact all aspects of their organization (for example, sales, marketing, customer relations, business strategy, brand, innovation). In addition, students will gain preparedness on how their role contributes to the larger operations of the organization, and build communication skills and professionalism to help ensure their work is valuable and well-communicated to business stakeholders.
