Building Structures

Course Code: BENG 2530

Academic Year: 2025-2026

Students build upon the fundamental principles learned in Engineering Materials and Statics. Students learn basic strength of materials and structural analysis concepts. They analyze internal force and stress actions for different structural members, beam behaviour, axial compression and buckling for columns. Students solve problems involving trusses, beams and frame structures made of timber, steel, and concrete using classical structural analysis methods. Students develop design skills applying functional and strength requirements to a real life design project.
