Cinematography: Theory and Practice

Course Code: BFMP 2501

Academic Year: 2025-2026

Cinematography Theory and Practice continues to develop the students technical control of the medium while placing emphasis on the creative application of cinematography. Working from their own visual concepts, students develop lighting plans, and build shooting strategies for scenes both on location and in the studio. Selection of lenses, exposure, and lighting is made based on the emotional, narrative and practical needs of the project. Blocking for both stationary and moving camera choreography is integrated into film projects and pre-production of the visuals is explored in greater detail. Upon completion of the course, students will have a deeper understanding of cinematography as a creative tool in storytelling.
