This is an introductory course to Big Data, it is primarily a practical hands on course that focuses on big data fundamentals. The student will learn about the characteristics of Big Data, what Big Data is and the need for Hadoop to be able to process the data and handle the variety and volume of data. The course describes the Hadoop architecture, (Hadoop Distributed File System-HDFS), how to load data into HDFS, query large amounts of data using Map Reduce. This course also will introduce the students to additional tools such as Hive, Pig, Zeppelin, and well as the NoSQL database.
