Course Code: BMED 2001
Academic Year: 2025-2026
This course introduces learners to the structure, physical properties, and reactivity of organic molecules. This theory and laboratory-based course explores key concepts within the field of organic chemistry including, nomenclature, chemical bonding, conformational analysis, stereochemistry, resonance, spectroscopy, chemical reactions, and reaction mechanisms of saturated and unstaurated hydrocarbons, aromatic compounds, and alcohols and ethers. Students develop and apply the skills required to design and predict the outcome of multistep reaction schemes for synthesizing target compounds.
