This course, followed by Canadian Investment Securities 2, is meant to assist students in preparing for investment and/or financial planning careers in the financial services industry. On completion of the BMFS Program, students will qualify to challenge the Chartered Financial Planner licensing exam and will be prepared to challenge the exams leading to the Life Insurance and Canadian Securities licenses. In this first course, students will come to understand the various financial markets and become familiar with corporations and their financial structures. Further, they will analyze and interpret corporate financial statements and data and distinguish between debt and equity instruments and their financing methods.
