This course will introduce students to major body systems and their functions to gain the foundational knowledge needed for all practical spa treatment and skills application courses. The course covers the basic foundation for understanding the human body and the mechanisms by which the body functions; and will prepare students for subsequent courses, such as BSPA 150, 154, 155, 205, 213, 250 and 255. Topics include the structure of the skin and nails, nervous system, circulatory system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, muscles, joints and bone structure. Students will learn about the factors that contribute to skin conditions, diseases, and disorders.
