This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of human resource management (HRM) functions within organizations. This course will familiarize students with the nature of supervision in the workplace, with an emphasis on the management skill first-line supervisors are expected to possess. Leadership skills will be explored, including ethical/legal issues, hiring practices and performance appraisals. A focus on communication techniques, both toward subordinates and toward superiors, is emphasized.
