This introductory course provides students with an overview of the Canadian Criminal Justice System with an emphasis on the function, role and organization of each component of the system. The operation of the system as a whole will be analyzed in light of contemporary issues affecting it, especially those related to the prevention of crime and the role of community justice. Major components such as law, the police, courts, and correctional services will also be explored.
