This course is intended to help students prepare for their placement in the second year of the program. It provides students with the resources and supports required to build the skills and strategies necessary to successfully create cover letters and resumes, engage in online networking, conduct an employment search, build interviewing skills as well as secure the necessary documentation required for work in the field. The course also supports students to identify areas of interest in the field and will provide students opportunities to engage in activities that promote self-analysis, identify their readiness for placement and explore specific placement opportunities that are relevant to their areas of interest. Furthermore, students will explore essential elements of professionalism including professional ethics, conflicts of interest, professional boundaries, as well as human rights and workplace harassment. Lastly, students will also explore self-care strategies and develop self-care plans essential to success in community work.
