Students acquire strategies for working with justice clients who experience or are at risk for experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges. Students learn some of the signs, symptoms and behavioral characteristics of common mental health issues and addiction challenges found in individuals involved in or at risk of becoming involved with the justice system. Students examine the stigma, barriers, and limitations that may be associated with mental illness and addictions and explore treatment and services options available within the justice system.
