This course is intended for those who wish to maintain and use data warehouses. Before attending this course, students should be familiar with relational database concepts. The course will look at materialized views with query rewrite; the extract, transform and load (ETL) framework; and loading data from various sources. Several tools will be utilized to work with the data warehouse: SQL*Loader, data pump import and export. The benefits of parallelization and partitions will be covered. Star transformation and bit-mapped indexes will be covered. Fundamentals of the data warehouse will be investigated.
