Youth and Crime

This course provides students with an overview of the youth criminal justice system, the laws that govern it, and the factors that influence policy decisions. Students will explore the unique risk factors that increase the likelihood of youth coming into conflict with the law. This course will examine and analyze patterns of youth crime within a historical, social, and political context. Students will develop the tools to understand better how the youth justice system responds to youth-related crimes and how youth justice impacts Canadian society as a whole.
