Experiences of Systemic Discrimination, Marginalization and Criminalization

This course gives students a deeper understanding of historical and current inequities perpetuating systematic racism, marginalization and criminalization of individuals and communities. Through inclusiveness and critical reflexivity, the course utilizes anti-colonial and decolonizing, anti-Native and Indigenous racism, anti-racism, anti-Black racism, anti-oppression, intersectionality, feminist, queer, and cis/sexism, disability, and equity to draw attention to the praxis. The course will draw attention to current social resistance movements, activism, and allyship to disrupt the discourse and shift the current procedures to reflect the voices of equity-seeking individuals, groups, professionals, and policymakers in reducing the prevalence of social inequalities and systemic discrimination.
