In Comedy Performance 1, students rehearse, produce, and perform live comedy shows for community audiences. Emphasizing collaboration, students will work together to develop and stage various comedic formats, including sketch comedy, improvisation, and physical comedy. The course culminates with the performance of a holiday pantomime as the capstone project. Students will learn essential skills in comedic acting, timing, and character work, while also gaining experience in the production elements of comedy, such as staging, costuming, and filming live shows. By performing in front of real audiences, students will receive valuable feedback and develop confidence in their comedic craft.
