Relational Practices in Child and Youth Care

This is an introductory course on the fundamental aspects of relational practices with children and adolescents. The intention of the course is to give students the opportunity to understand, practice and implement direct responses in their work with children and youth prior to the first field placement. The course is highly interactive and practical. The hands-on classes will develop a strength-based, ecological, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed relational approach when working with young people. This course is a prerequisite for CYC 159 and CYC 161.
