Course Code: DEC 204
Academic Year: 2025-2026
This lecture and studio course focuses on incorporating and utilizing design and decorating skills that students have acquired through their first year of the program. The course will take solving client-based challenges to the next level with an emphasis on design. Building on the knowledge of Kitchen and Bath design, focusing on creating original concepts, understanding the importance of architectural millwork detailing are the main concentration areas of this studio. Projects will vary in scale, size, complexity, and user (client) needs and requirements. Students will investigate, research, discuss and explore creative ideas individually and/or in groups. While projects will address industry trends, challenges, and applicable building code, they will also encompass universal and inclusive design principles. Projects will be based upon studio work, oral communication, and the dissemination of ideas into professional presentation format including both digital and hand sketching mediums.
