Course Code: DSW 150
Academic Year: 2025-2026
This is a work-integrated learning (WIL) course. The primary focus will be on meaningful interaction with people with developmental disabilities and supportive networks. The course will provide students with the opportunity to apply theory and skills learned throughout their DSW experience in a practical setting as well as integrating theoretical concepts and field experiences within a supportive seminar environment with course instructor and peers. Students will engage with peers and reflect on their field experience in class through discussion of relevant issues, professional practice, and problem-solve ethical and social issues in WIL and the field of developmental services which impact placement and employment. Students begin to develop the skills necessary to reflect on their personal and professional growth as an emerging professional by engaging in an evaluative retrospective of the skills they have accumulated throughout the program.
