This course examines the broad field of developmental disabilities from many perspectives. Specific focus is given to the times of transition in the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families across the lifespan. The course will explore the Developmental Services Worker's role in promoting the growth and empowerment of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families and developing inclusive communities. The impact of inclusion, segregation and marginalization on the provision of support for people with developmental disabilities as they move through the school system and into adulthood and later life will be explored.
