This course studies how economics can be used to understand resource allocation to improve health and healthcare. The course first consolidates relevant material learned in previous courses including microeconomics, statistics, operations, and financial management. Skills are developed through the course as we study topics including economic determinants of health, demand for health services, measurement of health, supply and cost of service provision, human resource planning, benefit-cost analysis, and the efficiency and distributional aspects of health policy.
