Programmable Logic Controllers: Introduction

This course introduces students to Programmable Logic Controllers as digital computers used for sequential control, motion control, process control, distributed control systems. Students will learn the architecture, function and operation of PLC's used in industrial applications. They also will learn memory structure, addressing and various programming techniques based on the IEC 61131-3 standards. Students will program and troubleshoot variety of tasks related to prototypes of different industrial applications using Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLC and RSLogix 5000 programming software.
