This course focuses on the development and implementation of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, which are essential software tools for monitoring and controlling industrial equipment and processes. Students will learn to design and manage interactive graphical interfaces for real-time system monitoring and control. Key tasks include configuration, alarm handling, trend analysis, and routine system management. Emphasis is placed on creating operator-friendly and efficient solutions, with learning outcomes applicable to a wide range of modern HMI and SCADA software. Through hands-on experience, students will work with HMIs such as Allen-Bradley PanelView and PanelView Plus, Siemens Simatic HMI Panels, and Omron NS Series. They will also engage with controllers including Allen-Bradley Compact/ControlLogix and SLC series, Siemens 1500 series PLCs, and Omron CJ1M/CJ2M PLCs. The course incorporates software tools like Studio 5000 Logix Designer and View Designer, FactoryTalk View Studio, Siemens TIA Portal, Omron CX-One, and OPC Server.
