This course is an introduction to variable air volume (VAV) systems presently employed in commercial office buildings. Students work on VAV systems using powered, pneumatic, electric and electronic control systems. Students draw on previously acquired knowledge of psychrometrics, electricity, air handling and refrigeration as they investigate the operation of these systems. Students use manufacturers' wiring diagrams to make thermostat and VAV connections.
