This course focuses on the nursing care for clients who have suffered a physical trauma and require rapid and accurate assessment and implementation of advanced nursing interventions. The student will be required to apply strong critical thinking, prioritization, and decision making skills in order to identify actual or potential emergent or life-threatening situations and plan effective and efficient interventions. Some topics include, but are not limited to: Maxillofacial and Head Injuries; Orthopedic, Neurovascular, and Spinal Injuries; Thoracic Injuries; Abdominal Injuries; and Environmental Disasters and Pandemic Planning. To be successful with all learning objectives, each student is required to participate fully in all individual and collaborative learning activities.
