This course provides students with the theory and skills required to assess a client's current physical fitness level, and health and wellness status. Students gain experience in administering health-related and performance-related assessments of: body composition, muscular strength, power and endurance, cardiorespiratory fitness, anaerobic fitness, flexibility/range of motion, and balance. Students will acquire knowledge of pre-screening for physical activity and exercise, proper use of testing equipment, fitness assessment outcomes, interpretation of data, and normative data. This course assists in preparing students to challenge select professional certification examinations. The course takes place in a fully-equipped, dedicated Fitness Assessment Laboratory.
